The Hidden Risks of UK Voltage Supply Variations: The Potential Negative Impacts on Your Business
The UK’s standard voltage supply is set at 230 volts, but don’t be misled into thinking all your electrical appliances are running on exactly that. There are important nuances to understand, and potential negative effects, which we will explain in this article. The Reality Behind the “Standard” Supply The British standard 230-volt supply allows for a tolerance of +10% to -6%. This means that the voltage can actually range from 216 volts to 253 volts. Furthermore, it’s important to note that this range applies only at the supply point. These figures do not take into account the voltage drop that can occur in the circuits beyond this point. As a result, the actual voltage supplied to connected equipment may…

Families face record hikes in energy bills this year, analysts warn
Electricity and gas bills for UK households could hit a record high of £2,255 this year, with energy prices soaring in April and October. Commercial energy consumers will also be affected according to Gareth Miller, the chief executive officer at Cornwall Insight. “The current energy crisis is of economy-wide concern, having a potential impact on business competitiveness, general inflation, and household affordability,” he said Miller said the government need to steer clear of “quick fixes” and consider low-carbon technologies to lessen the impact of rising fossil fuel costs, and homegrown gas supplies as the UK is more vulnerable to price fluctuations due to its reliance on importing natural gas. The rise, which will result in cost-of-living issues for many households,…
