Last week marked a key milestone for our Scottish Highlands substation project, with the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) successfully completed for the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) solution delivered by Claude Lyons, in partnership with SSEN and Siemens Energy.

Designed specifically to meet SSEN’s SP-NET-SST-510 specification, the AVR has been precision-engineered to perform reliably in the demanding environmental and operational conditions of the Highlands.

“Completing FAT is a critical step in demonstrating that the system will perform exactly as intended once deployed,” said Project Lead, Kes Vincent. “This solution has been engineered not just for compliance, but for long-term reliability in one of the UK’s most challenging operating environments.”

Passing FAT confirms that the system meets all functional, performance and quality requirements ahead of site installation, helping to ensure dependable operation from day one. It also provides assurance to all project partners that the AVR is designed and tested in accordance with the specification, supporting reliable performance in a demanding operational environment.
